THE MATH, WITHOUT THE MYSTERY

How this whole-house estimate works

BOM combines net wall area (4 walls minus openings), paint volume (primer + coats), flooring area with waste buffer rounded to whole boxes, and full wallpaper strips with pattern repeats across all rooms.

A worked example

A project with Living Room (16 × 13 ft), Bedroom (14 × 12 ft), Kitchen (12 × 10 ft), and Hallway (14 × 4 ft) totals ~1,424 ft² net wall area (9 cans of primer & finish paint), ~580 ft² flooring (~29 boxes with 10% waste), and wallpaper rolls for bedroom feature wall.

A FEW USEFUL ANSWERS

Before you head to the hardware store

Can I add or remove rooms?

Yes. Click "+ Add Room" to include more spaces like a guest room or home office, or remove any room not in your renovation scope.

How does the URL sharing work?

Every room change and measurement automatically syncs to the address bar hash. Click "Copy share link" to send your complete project plan to a partner, contractor, or open it on your phone at the store.

Can I print this for the hardware store?

Yes. Click "Print shopping spec sheet" or use your browser print dialog. The page automatically formats into a clean tabular shopping spec sheet with a contractor checklist and zero screen clutter.
